WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO SIGN UP FOR THE COURSE?
Sign up online! The cost of the Basic Rider Course is $200. Go to the schedule,
find the class date you are interested in and click on the words "Click
Here to Sign Up Online",
type in your information, pay with a credit card using PayPal,
and you're registered! The odds of getting the class date you want
are greater
if you
sign up online. Classes fill up quick and seating is limited. Or,
mail a money order (no personal checks accepted) to PMRTC at 273 Keirns Ct., Ozark,
AL 36360. Please include your name, mailing address, phone number
and which class date you are requesting.
CAN I TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT THE COURSE?
Sure, call Cliff or Dottie at 800-840-3447 if you have any questions.
WHAT WILL I NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE?
You will need over the ankle boots, long pants, long sleeve shirt,
full-fingered gloves and eye protection. Glasses are considered
eye protection.
WILL THE CLASS BE CANCELED
IF IT RAINS?
No. We will ride in the rain, just as you would in real-life. Bring a rain suit.
CAN I USE MY OWN BIKE IN THE COURSE?
Only if you have a motorcycle that meets at least two of the following
criteria: seat height of 30 inches or less; engine size of less
than 500cc; motorcycle weight of less than 400 pounds. You must
have full coverage insurance on your motorcycle and sign a waiver
that absolves PMRTC of any responsibility for damage incurred to
your motorcycle. So, the best plan is to use one of our bikes!
DO I NEED MY OWN HELMET?
No, we provide DOT approved ¾ helmets for each student however,
if you have a DOT approved helmet you may wear it provided it is
not a half or “shorty” helmet.
WHAT IF I DON’T
READ VERY WELL?
No problem, you will be placed with a group in class and the written
exam will be read to you in a separate, private classroom.
HOW WILL I KNOW IF I AM REGISTERED?
You will receive a confirmation email if you sign up online, you
will get a confirmation letter in the mail if you mail a money order.
The letter tells you how to get to the range, clothing
requirements and
course
schedule.
HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE?
If you are a Florida resident you must be 15 ½ and have held
a car learners permit for 6 months.
WHAT KIND OF BIKES DO YOU USE?
We use wide variety of Kawasaki’s, Honda’s, and Suzuki’s.
I ONLY WEIGH 89 POUNDS ARE THE BIKES HEAVY?
No, we have bikes that you will be able to easily control and be
comfortable on.
I AM ONLY 4’ 10” TALL
WILL THE BIKE FIT ME?
Yes, we have a wide variety of bikes to fit all heights and weights.
I AM 6’ 8” AND
WEIGHT 385 POUNDS DO YOU HAVE A BIKE FOR ME?
We sure do!
HOW WILL I GET MY MOTORCYCLE ENDORSEMENT ON MY DRIVERS LICENSE AFTER
THE COURSE?
Take your current Florida Drivers License to the DMV along with the
Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course Completion card that you will
receive upon completion of the course and $15. They will
issue you a new license with “MOTORCYCLE ALSO” printed
in the lower right corner.
REFUND POLICY:
Cancellation: Student must call 1-800-840-3447 or
email cliff@learn2ride.biz 24 hours prior to their scheduled class
to obtain
a partial refund.
A partial refund is full tuition minus a 10 percent processing fee.
Postponement: There is no charge for postponement provided student calls or emails
24 hours prior to their scheduled class.
Late Arrivals:
-Classroom: Students can be up to one hour late for
the Friday night classroom portion provided they call 1-800-840-3447
prior to 6 PM
Friday.
-Range: Learning to ride a motorcycle requires skill
progression. This progression begins with small tasks and builds
to larger, more complex tasks. It is critical that students arrive on time,
especially for the range portion of the class. Failure to arrive
on time will result in the following:
Students can be up to 5 minutes late for the range portion of the class without penalty.
Students who arrive between 6 and 15 minutes late
for the range portion of the class may be allowed to continue with
the class at the discretion of the Rider Coach in charge.
Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late for
the range portion of the class are no longer in the class and will
not receive a refund. Students in this category can be rescheduled for
a subsequent class, subject to availability, since they have already attended Friday night classroom.
To be rescheduled for a subsequent class costs $150.
